A fact is that we should strive to be ourselves at all times, but another fact is that situations can arise where we might be tempted to portray who or what we are not.
Here are 5 situations where you should remain true to yourself.
The first is when you can’t afford something. This has to do with resource management, we sometimes go to a store or a sales and find something we believe we might not be able to live without but then we can’t actually afford it. That’s a conflicting situation and we advice that if you can’t afford to buy that item twice, then don’t at all. Unless you’re ready to face the consequences.
Second time to be yourself is when it comes to gender stereotypes. There are these untold rules that females always have to live by or else… The question is ‘Or else what?!’ Be yourself, go out there and conquer the world girl! As long as it won’t cost you, go out there and be a trend setter.
Third time to be yourself has to do with following your dreams. We are way past the time when everyone was into the ‘white-collar’ vibe. If your plans are to be creative and change the world, go for it. The sky isn’t the limit anymore. There’s no limit.
The fourth time to be yourself is when you’re eating your favorite food, especially if it is in the traditional ministry like Eba, Amala, Fufu, etc. Note that they didn’t buy the food for you, therefore have no say in how into the food you are. Eat like nobody is watching but don’t forget table manners.
The final and most important time to be yourself is ALWAYS. Do not become what you’re not because of a person or situation.
“Stay true to yourself, yet always be open to learn. Work hard, and never give up on your dreams, even when nobody else believes they can come true but you. These are not cliches but real tools you need no matter what you do in life to stay focused on your path.”
